What do CTR, EPC, and RPM mean?

In your Sedo account, you’ll see three abbreviations used to describe your domain parking earnings: CTR, EPC, and RPM.

CTR = (Click-through Rate):  This is a ratio (in percentage form) of clicks that a domain receives for the given amount of unique visitors.
For example, if you currently have 100 visitors and 57 clicks, your click-through rate is 57%.

EPC = (Earning per Click):  This is the averaged amount of revenue for each click for a given domain.  This amount is usually between .03 and 1.50 USD, but can be higher depending on the keyword chosen and the advertisement clicked on.
For example, if you receive three clicks and the first two are worth .25 USD and the third is worth .10 USD, your average EPC would .20 USD (click 1 + click 2 + click 3, divided by 3).

RPM = (Revenue per Mille): This is the amount of revenue you are expected to earn for every 1000 visitors based on the current CTR (Click-Through Rate) and EPC (Earnings per Click).  This number will change as the other two factors fluctuate.
For example, if your CTR is 57% and your EPC is .20 USD, your RPM would be 114 USD (1,000 x .57 x .20 = 114); if your EPC changes to .21 USD, your new RPM would be 119.70 USD.  (Note: mille is the Latin prefix for 1,000.)

BlueStacks App Player runs Android applications(apps) on the computer [PC]

BlueStacks App Player is a tool that allows you to run applications{apps} created for the operating system Android on Windows and Mac . With it you can use that program so much like, on your desktop.

The first program startup requires the user to answer a few questions before opening the home screen. Is just data to configure the desktop, such as language, if there is an Android device plugged into the PC and the user email.

After that, the program displays the main screen with a mini desktop PC desktop, with the installed apps and a quick access bar in the central part of the Windows screen.

Features of Bluestacks App Player Emulator

In the default installation of BlueStacks App Player it comes with some pre-installed applications and ready to be used. These include car racing game Drag Racing , the news aggregator Pulse and Evernote . If you want more programs, can you install new applications just by typing in the search bar and choosing the query result.

The BlueStacks App Player matter and run the apps are just as Android, which should be an operating system designed for mobile phones and tablets, can complicate a little display of some applications.

The main program interface, and show the installed applications (My Apps), displays the most downloaded application lists (Top 25), some categories and suggestions on the side of the screen. All this to facilitate user access to applications.

If you need to run any Android app, the BlueStacks App Player is the ideal program to solve your problem. Download now and start to use your favorite applications without complications on your desktop.
Our opinion on Bluestacks App Player
The strength of the program is just being able to run Android applications on Windows, something he does very well without looking like the Google system is being virtualized.

Another positive factor in BlueStacks is to organize applications into groups. This feature may not be as important at first, but after installing multiple applications - something that Google Play has enough - it becomes essential if the user does not miss with so many programs.

The synchronization feature of BlueStacks App Player, which automatically maintains applications in sync between an Android device and the Player of the environment in Windows is very useful and greatly facilitates the user's life.

The application size settings are also very useful for users and developers perhaps because it gives them control and the ability to test / adjust the size of the screen of installed applications. Unfortunately, some applications could not be installed in the tests done, which limited the use Bluestack experience.

Pros of Bluestacks App Player

1. Android applications run well on Windows and is not looking like a virtualizer
2. Application organization in groups helps a lot when you have many apps
3. Application sync an Android device and the Player of the environment in Windows is very useful and greatly facilitates the user's life
4. Allows application size setting, very useful for users and developers may

Cons of Bluestacks App Player

Running Linux From a usb Drive a Virtual Machine or Bootable Disk

Live Linux environments work just like a typical operating system but run entirely from a CD or USB stick -- the latter being the most common choice these days. Since nothing is written to the host computer’s local storage, when you’re done all you need to do is remove the media, reboot, and everything will be exactly as it was.
There are a number of uses to this, from simply test driving Linux to troubleshooting a Windows PC, or work on the go from someone else’s computer but running your own OS securely with all your personal files and settings.
There are basically two options when it comes to running Linux from a USB drive: from within Windows using virtualization software such as VirtualBox, or creating a boot disk. This quick guide details both methods in a few easy steps.
Running Linux from a USB drive in Windows
This option will come in handy if you want to run a Live Linux environment but need to retain access to Windows. Perhaps you just want to do something real quick without rebooting, or want to be able to hide the virtualized Linux instance. Our preferred weapon of choice here is a little tool called LinuxLive USB Creator.
It’s free, open-source software, and it has a built-in virtualization feature that lets you run a self contained version of VirtualBox from the USB drive. This means the host computer you’ll run Linux from doesn’t need to have VirtualBox installed.
Here's what you'll need to do:
Download and transfer the ISO image of your preferred Linux distribution to a USB drive.
Download and install LinuxLive USB Creator.
Launch LiLi USB Creator and follow the straightforward steps guiding you through the process.
Step 1. Select the USB drive where you want Linux installed.
Step 2. Choose the source ISO file of the Linux distribution you downloaded.
Step 3. Choose Live Mode.
Step 4. Leave the third box checked, the other two are up to you and self-explanatory.

You will need and internet connection to complete the process -- mainly to download VirtualBox if you don’t have it installed. Once the process is finished, open your USB key in Windows Explorer and you should see a folder called VirtualBox containing two executable files: VirtualizeThisKey.exe and VirtualBox.exe.
Running VirtualizeThisKey.exe will launch your Linux distribution in Windows (inside VirtualBox), whereas VirtualBox.exe opens the full VirtualBox interface.
Boot Linux from a USB drive
If you’d rather load Linux without going through Windows first this is the way to go. There are a few different tools for creating bootable USB drives around the web but one I’m particularly fond of is YUMI -- short for Your Universal Multiboot Installer.
This is the successor to our MultibootISO and can be used to install more than one distribution to run from your USB. It’s extremely simple to use, and all files from each Linux distribution are stored within the Multiboot folder, making for a nicely organized Multiboot Drive that can still be used for other storage purposes.
Download the ISO image of your preferred Linux distribution.
Download and install YUMI.
Launch YUMI and follow three simple steps guiding you through the process.
Step 1. Select the USB drive where you want Linux installed.
Step 2. Select the Linux distribution you'll be installing from the list.
Step 3. Choose the source ISO file of the Linux distribution you downloaded.

Once YUMI is done you’re all set. To boot into Linux just plug the USB drive into the host computer, reboot, and press the required key during this process to enter the Boot Menu (usually F10). After choosing your USB drive you should see the YUMI boot menu where you can pick the desired Linux distribution in Live mode.
You can run YUMI's boot drive creator again to add More ISOs/distributions to your drive as needed and they'll all show up in this menu during boot.
Which Linux distribution should I install?
There's no single right answer to that question. For a new user jumping into the world of Linux-based operating systems the amount of options available can be overwhelming. Finding the "right" distro for you can only be done though experience but there are plenty of resources online to help you figure it out.
Popular choices for newcomers include Ubuntu, Mint and PCLinuxOS. If you are looking for a secure operating system to take with you anywhere, you might also want to give Tails a try. The latter received a lot of press recently when it was disclosed that Edward Snowden was using it to avoid NSA snooping.

How to Remove a Password in Excel 2013

Password protecting an Excel workbook is a simple and effective way to make sure that the file can only be viewed by individuals with whom you have shared that password. But if a workbook no longer requires a password, or if you are finding it too tedious to enter the password each time you want to work with the file, then you might be wondering how to remove it.

Removing a workbook password in Excel 2013 can be accomplished with just a few short steps, then the workbook can be saved so that the password is no longer required to open and view the data contained within the file.

Removing a Password from an Excel 2013 Workbook

These steps are for the removal of a workbook password. This is the type of password that prevents you from viewing anything in the file without entering a password.
The steps in this article will show you how to remove a password from a spreadsheet when you know that password. It will not show you how to remove the password from an Excel spreadsheet for which you do not know the password.

Step 1: Open the spreadsheet in Excel 2013 and enter the password for the workbook.

Step 2: Click the File tab at the top-left corner of the window.

Step 3: Click the Protect Workbook button, then click the Encrypt with Password option.

Step 4: Click inside the Password field, delete the existing password, then click the OK button.

Step 5: Click the Save button to save the workbook without the password.

PROPER Function to Capitalize Names in Excel

When you think about Excel functions, you probably think about performing calculations with numbers. But while it’s true that you can use functions to do lots of handy things with numbers in Excel, some functions can help you format text, too. One good example is thePROPER function, which capitalizes the first letter of every word in a cell. If you have cells containing proper nouns, like names or titles, you can use the PROPER function to make sure everything is capitalized correctly. The PROPER function works in Google Spreadsheets, too.
For example, let’s say your company wants to give someone a lifetime achievement award. You’ve asked your co-workers to enter their nominations for the award into this spreadsheet:
5-7-2014 10-40-21 AM
Unfortunately, you can see that not everyone has been careful to capitalize the first and last name of the person they want to nominate, so the spreadsheet looks messy. You could go through the column and correct all the names manually, but using the PROPER function will be faster and easier.
In this example, the names of the nominees are in column A, so we’ll put our formula in column B. In cell B2, we’ll type a formula that tells Excel to capitalize the name in cell A2, which contains the first name on our list. That formula will look like this:
=PROPER(A2)
As you may remember from our lesson on Simple Formulas, it’s important to make sure that you start any Excel formula with an equals sign. Once you’ve entered the formula, press the Enter key, and cell B2 will display the name from A2 with the correct capitalization: Thomas Lynley.
5-7-2014 10-41-28 AM
Now all we have to do is click and drag the fill handle through cell A14, and column B will display all the names in the list with the correct capitalization:
5-7-2014 10-41-55 AM
Great! Now all the names of the award nominees are correctly capitalized on the spreadsheet. There’s one problem, though; we still have the original uncapitalized names in column A. We can’t just delete column A, since our formula in column B refers to it. Instead, we can copy the values from column B into a new column by using the Paste Values feature in Excel.
To do this, select cells B2:B14, and click the Copy command (or press Ctrl+C on your keyboard). Then, right-click the cell where you want to paste the values (for example, C2) and then select the Values button from the menu that appears. If you’re using Google Spreadsheets, you can right-click and go to Paste special > Paste values only.
5-7-2014 2-27-32 PM
Now we have a column that displays the corrected names, but doesn’t depend on a formula or cell reference. That means we can delete our original columns (column A and column B). And there we have it! A nice, neat spreadsheet with all the names of the nominees correctly capitalized.
Of course, people’s names aren’t the only things that need to be capitalized! You can use the PROPER function to correctly capitalize lists of books, movies, countries, or even street names. If you have another idea for how to use the PROPER function, let us know in the comments below!

How to Use Excel’s VLOOKUP Function

Many of our learners have told us that they want to learn how to use Excel’s VLOOKUP function. VLOOKUP is an extremely useful tool, and learning how to use it is easier than you think!
Before you start, you should understand the basics of functions. Check out our Functions lesson in Excel 2013 (or select a different version of Excel). VLOOKUP works the same in all versions of Excel, and it even works in other spreadsheet applications like Google Spreadsheets.

What exactly is VLOOKUP?

Basically, VLOOKUP lets you search for specific information in your spreadsheet. For example, if you have a list of products with prices, you could search for the price of a specific item.
We’re going to use VLOOKUP to find the price of the Photo frame. You can probably already see that the price is $9.99, but that’s because this is a simple example. Once you learn how to use VLOOKUP, you’ll be able to use it with larger, more complex spreadsheets, and that’s when it will become truly useful.
Screenshot of excel
We’ll add our formula to cell E2, but you can add it to any blank cell. As with any formula, you’ll start with an equal sign (=). Then, type the formula name. Our arguments will need to be in parentheses, so type an open parenthesis. So far, it should look like this:
=VLOOKUP(

Adding the arguments

Now, we’ll add our arguments. The arguments will tell VLOOKUP what to search for and where to search.
The first argument is the name of the item you are searching for, which in this case isPhoto frame. Since the argument is text, we’ll need to put it in double quotes:
=VLOOKUP(“Photo frame”
The second argument is the cell range that contains the data. In this example, our data is in A2:B16. As with any function, you’ll need to use a comma to separate each argument:
=VLOOKUP(“Photo frame”, A2:B16
Note: It’s important to know that VLOOKUP will always search the first column in this range. In this example, it will search column A for “Photo frame”. In some cases, you may need to move the columns around so that the first column contains the correct data.
The third argument is the column index number. It’s simpler than it sounds: The first column in the range is 1, the second column is 2, etc. In this case, we are trying to find theprice of the item, and the prices are contained in the second column. That means our third argument will be 2:
=VLOOKUP(“Photo frame”, A2:B16, 2
The fourth argument tells VLOOKUP whether to look for approximate matches, and it can be either TRUE or FALSE. If it is TRUE, it will look for approximate matches. Generally, this is only useful if the first column has numerical values that have been sorted. Since we’re only looking for exact matches, the fourth argument should be FALSE. This is our last argument, so go ahead and close the parentheses:
=VLOOKUP(“Photo frame”, A2:B16, 2, FALSE)
And that’s it! When you press enter, it should give you the answer, which is 9.99.
Vlookup First Result

How it works

Let’s take a look at how this formula works. It first searches vertically down the first column (VLOOKUP is short for “vertical lookup”). When it finds “Photo frame”, it moves to the second column to find the price.
Explanation of Vlookup
If we want to find the price of a different item, we can just change the first argument:
=VLOOKUP(“T-shirt”, A2:B16, 2, FALSE)
or:
=VLOOKUP(“Gift basket”, A2:B16, 2, FALSE)

Another example

OK, are you ready for a slightly more complicated example? Let’s say we have a third column that has the category for each item. This time, instead of finding the price, we’ll find the category.
Vlookup Second Example
To find the category, we’ll need to change the second and third arguments in our formula. First, we’ll change the range to A2:C16 so that it includes the third column. Next, we’ll change the column index number to 3, since our categories are in the third column:
=VLOOKUP(“Gift basket”, A2:C16, 3, FALSE)
When you press Enter, you’ll see that the Gift basket is in the Gifts category.
Screenshot of Excel

Try it!

If you’d like more practice, see if you can find the following:

• The price of the coffee mug
• The category of the landscape painting
• The price of the serving bowl
• The category of the scarf

Now you know the basics of using VLOOKUP. Although advanced users sometimes use VLOOKUP in different ways, you can do a lot with the techniques that we’ve covered. For example, if you have a contact list, you could search for someone’s name to find their phone number. If your contact list has columns for the email address or company name, you could search for those by simply changing the second and third arguments, as we did in our example. The possibilities are endless!

Excel 2013 Formulas Functions

function is a predefined formula that performs calculations using specific values in a particular order. All spreadsheet programs include common functions that can be used for quickly finding the sum, averagecountmaximum value, and minimum value for a range of cells. In order to use functions correctly, you'll need to understand the different parts of a function and how to create arguments to calculate values and cell references.

The parts of a function

In order to work correctly, a function must be written a specific way, which is called the syntax. The basic syntax for a function is an equals sign (=), the function name (SUM, for example), and one or more arguments. Arguments contain the information you want to calculate. The function in the example below would add the values of the cell range A1:A20.
Screenshot of Excel 2013

Working with arguments

Arguments can refer to both individual cells and cell ranges and must be enclosed within parentheses. You can include one argument or multiple arguments, depending on the syntax required for the function.
For example, the function =AVERAGE(B1:B9) would calculate the average of the values in the cell range B1:B9. This function contains only one argument.
Screenshot of Excel 2013
Multiple arguments must be separated by a comma. For example, the function =SUM(A1:A3, C1:C2, E2) will addthe values of all cells in the three arguments.
Screenshot of Excel 2013

Using functions

There are a variety of functions. Here are some of the most common functions you'll use:
  • SUM: This function adds all the values of the cells in the argument.
  • AVERAGE: This function determines the average of the values included in the argument. It calculates the sum of the cells and then divides that value by the number of cells in the argument.
  • COUNT: This function counts the number of cells with numerical data in the argument. This function is useful for quickly counting items in a cell range.
  • MAX: This function determines the highest cell value included in the argument.
  • MIN: This function determines the lowest cell value included in the argument.

To use a function:

In our example below, we'll use a basic function to calculate the average price per unit for a list of recently ordered items using the AVERAGE function.
  1. Select the cell that will contain the function. In our example, we'll select cell C11.
    Screenshot of Excel 2013
  2. Type the equals sign (=) and enter the desired function name. In our example, we'll type =AVERAGE.
    Screenshot of Excel 2013
  3. Enter the cell range for the argument inside parentheses. In our example, we'll type (C3:C10). This formula will add the values of cells C3:C10 and then divide that value by the total number of cells in the range to determine the average.
    Screenshot of Excel 2013
  4. Press Enter on your keyboard. The function will be calculated, and the result will appear in the cell. In our example, the average price per unit of items ordered was $15.93.
    Screenshot of Excel 2013
  5. Your spreadsheet will not always tell you if your function contains an error, so it's up to you to check all of your functions. To learn how to do this, check out the Double-Check Your Formulas lesson.

Working with unfamiliar functions

If you want to learn how a function works, you can start typing that function in a blank cell to see what it does.
screenshot of excel 2013
You can then type an open parenthesis to see what kind of arguments it needs.
Screenshot of Excel 2013

Understanding nested functions

Whenever a formula contains a function, the function is generally calculated before any other operators, like multiplication and division. That's because the formula treats the entire function as a single value—before it can use that value in the formula, it needs to run the function. For example, in the formula below, the SUM function will be calculated before division:
Screenshot of Excel 2013
Let's take a look at a more complicated example that uses multiple functions:
=WORKDAY(TODAY(),3)
Here, we have two different functions working together: the WORKDAY function and the TODAY function. These are known as nested functions, since one function is placed, or nested, within the arguments of another. As a rule, the nested function is always calculated first, just like parentheses are performed first in the order of operations. In this example, the TODAY function will be calculated first, since it's nested within the WORKDAY function.
