You can also spruce up your desktop by sending it shortcuts for desktop applications from your Start screen and the All Apps screen. Open the Start screen or the All Apps screen, then right-click on a tile for a desktop application. From the apps bar, select the option to "Open file location." A shortcut to the application opens in File Explorer. Right-click, drag the shortcut file to the desktop, then release the mouse. From the popup menu, choose the second option, to "Copy here."
